Oh my God, I can’t LIKE this enough. Brilliant examples, brilliantly written. THANK YOU. As an American who has lived in Canada, UK, Japan and more it’s spot on.

I want to reblog this until my fingers bleed.

I think one of the problems we *might* have if we chose to be a socialist democracy (might wanna use that term…the world socialism alone freaks people out, despite the fact that they love it and use it here in the USA. Libraries, police, fire, medicare, postal service, military)…anyway…what might happen is that our taxes, unlike others, might take a hit more than 5–10% because of your aforementioned predatory workings of this country.

We do two things VERY well here that we absolutely shouldn’t. Hypocrisy and predatory greed.

You could also add in the deflation of the dollar. And, how the idea of socialized health care makes people upset because they don’t want to “pay for others”, but they already ARE. Why else is our bill so high when we’re healthy? We are paying for someone else’s cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. They certainly can’t afford the half million dollar price tag that comes with a cancer diagnosis. WE pay for that. So, socialize care for real would likely benefit us…and it would instill preventative care, which we do not have.

Thank you for your article.
