I didn’t even know this was a thing…but now I’m going to use it…proudly!

People have been bragging about their kids using everything from bumper stickers to social media posts for ages. Meanwhile, the Earth gets more and more used, abused, torn up — because we are parasites.

It’s selfish to HAVE kids. It’s selfLESS not to. The ONLY reason you’d have kids is FOR YOURSELF. They don’t ask to be born. You just think it’s a cool idea. Or want to save your marriage. Or think “it’s time.” Or babies are cute. (They are.) Or…it’s the marriage-house-kids progression. But it’s not THEM asking to come into the world to make it a better place. It’s you/us.

And having more than one kid knowing how overcrowded we already are? That’s nothing BUT selfish.

Opting out is brave, and it’s always been put under a microscope. “There must be something wrong with her — what kind of woman doesn’t want kids??”

There won’t be anyone to take out the trash, to take care of…or, anyone to take care of us when we get old. There won’t be mommy gathering, all the friends with kids in the park…neighborhood birthday parties, plays, and school sporting events. We don’t get to be part of the In Crowd.

If the Earth is burning and the only silver lining is that the CHILDFREE finally get to say who they are without the Spanish Inquisition and an odd look— then fuck it.
